“The double fold dream of Art - 2RC between the artist and the artificer”

After travelling through the most important Academies in China, the itinerary exhibition “The double fold dream of Art - 2RC between the artist and the artificer” , in occasion of the ufficial visit of the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano, the 15th of September will be presented at the MOA Museum of Art of the National University. This exhibition is substained by the Italian Cultural Institute of Seoul and by ICE – Italian Institute of Foreign Commerce.

In 1959 Valter and Eleonora Rossi opened the 2RC printshop in Rome, with the intention to demonstrate that graphic art is at the same level of painting and sculpture and not extension of these. The objective is the one to create a technical-artistic laboratory able to develop new graphic techniques which allow the artists to create freely the graphic art.

The creation of large etching presses of extraordinary power, designed by Valter Rossi himself and all the equipment that was subsequently necessary allows the realization of large format etchings of absolute graphic autonomy that attract to the 2RC artists such as Lucio Fontana, Francis Bacon, Alberto Burri, Henry Moore, Enzo Cucchi, Sam Francis and many others.

The exhibition, thought and curated by Prof. Achille Bonito Oliva, has neen presented for the first time at the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro in Milan (April 18th – July 31st 2007), followed by The National Gallery of the Arts of Tirana (December 14th 2007 – January 14th 2008), the Museum of the Academy of Russian Art in Moscow (February 21st – March 24th 2008), the The Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg (May 20th - June 29th 2008), the Italian Cultural Institute of Belgrade (September 17th – October 17th 2008), the China Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum of Beijing (January 18th – February 22nd 2009), the Gallery of the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts di Shenyang (April 7th - 21st 2009) the Museum of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute di Chongqing ( May 4th – 28th 2009).

This exhibition gathers 121 large graphic art works, presenting a vast collection which include most of the Artist whom have collaborated with the 2RC. As Prof. Achille Bonito Oliva wrote, “the collection is a crossover of the Contemporary Art History from the
the 60's until today. It represents an international panorama, for presence and quality, which is absolutely reliable to the artistic creation of the second half of the XX century to now days. An all Italian creative tradition”.

Exhibited Artists: Afro, Pierre Alechinsky, Francis Bacon, Max Bill, Alberto Burri, Alexander Calder, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Eduardo Chillida, Francesco Clemente, Enzo Cucchi, Lucio Fontana, Sam Francis, Helen Frankenthaler, Nancy Graves, Renato Guttuso, Jannis Kounellis, Giacomo Manzù, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, Victor Pasmore, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Man Ray, Julian Schnabel, George Segal, Pierre Soulages, Graham Sutherland, Walasse Ting e Victor Vasarely.
